Are the 2 new retractable hardtop convertibles from Pontiac (G6 Convertible) and VW (EOS) going to be at the 2006 Toronto AutoShow?  I was disappointed last year after it's splashy launch in LA that they didn't bring the G6 Convertible to Toronto.  I am hoping they bring it this year.  As for the EOS, the VW.ca site mentions it going to the Montreal and Vancouver autoshows, but there is no mention of Toronto.

I saw that on the VW.ca site too and thought it very odd as they mention GTI and Passat Wagon will be at other shows and name Toronto. I inquired and was told it would be at the show (and hard to imagine it wouldn't be), but with VW anything's possible and I'm not certain it will be there. Thankfully the VW press release suggests it will be http://www.autoshow.ca/2006/showsummary_exhibitors.asp?manu=VW

The G6 should be there.

Most definitely. Sometimes vehicles are only shown during VIP or half the show and get shared and transported to make both shows.

I am most interested in seeing the G6 convertible, Saturn Aura and Sky, Mazda Cx-7, Ford Edge/Fusion and suprisingly enough the new Camry.

Last year's show was really disappointing since most new models were for press days only.  You can only see so many ION's and Cobalts ya know?
2019 Mazda 3 GS-L, 2013 Ram 1500 and an EV that cost 5 times what my Mazda3 costs but is louder with a crappier interior.

TO show has fewer cars this year than last year. I will wait for 2007 autoshow.

Pontiac G6 convertible and VW Eos convertible, both hard-tops, will be big competitors.

Just got back from show.  Almost too much to try and cram in within 5 hours!

Out of all the cars (not including exotics) Solstice and Eclipse GT both just blew me away!  Loved the feel of both them, the looks, everything.  Utterly speechless.  The new Civic Si wowed me as well.  Not even close to as much as the two above did, but I was really suprised with it.  Sweet ride.

Biggest Disappointments: I was in love with the G6 convertible, but after seeing it live, I'm just in LIKE with it.  Still love the coupe, but compare to the others in it's class (Solara) the interior just didn't cut it.  I was also pretty disappointed in the BMW X3.2 interior.  Just terrible for a BMW.  Really felt cheap.

didn't actually use it, but they had 1 Soltice with the top up and 1 with the top down so I sat in and checked out both.  I think the rear opens clamshell like, it's all manual and folds into the trunk.  The quality of the top seemed, uh, not very good quality and it doesn't really look great with the top up.  It sorta looked like it just wouldn't seal very well at the back end but that could just be people fiddling with it all day.

The poor fit of the top is one of the first things I've noticed in published pictures of the car, so I doubt it is due to people "fiddling" with it. It is simply a poorly executed design. It makes me wonder about the quality of the rest of the design as well.  ??? ::)

That's a tough call Saffy.  For me, under $30k, it'd probably be the Civic Si -- just seems like a whole lotta car for the bucks.  The MX-5 is right on the $30k border though and I think I've put my money where my mouth is there.

Over $30k, it'd probably be the Carerra.  Just such a gorgeous, hot-performing and semi-practical all-round package.  Maybe if I'd had the ability to climb around inside a Vette, my tune would be different, but it was locked tight, so I had a quick glance and moved on.  The AM Vantage V8 already has the lust factor as I've mentioned elsewhere.
