Day-by-Day Review: CTC's Top Ten of 2008
James takes a well-deserved rest for the holidays, but rather than leave his loyal readers with nothing new, he presents his Top Ten drives of the past 12 months. Big to small, fast to, well, not-so-fast, these are the vehicles that made the most lasting impressions on James in 2008.

Test Drive:
2007 Cadillac Escalade AWD

2007 Cadillac Escalade AWDLaurance Yap says it's a "bit of a shame" that the Escalade is hitting the market at a time when gas prices are so high because "it really is a very impressive large SUV."  Unique to the Escalade is a 6.2-litre V8 producing 403 horsepower, and a six-speed automatic transmission. "Despite its size and weight, the new Cadillac Escalade actually feels nimble in most everyday driving situations," he says.    More...

I am not that impressed with its interior materials, despite of all the claims that GM has improved a lot with its fit-and-finish. There are still tons of hard plastic on the center console and dashboard.

What is the definition of hard plastic?   Roll Eyes

Anyway, the new Caddy bling blling mobile is very impressive in person.  Looks good, but that belt buckle emblem on the back is the size of Uranus.  Inside looks very well designed and is worth noting.

Cue Saffi for some comment about the size of Hisanus.  Embarrassed Lips Sealed

The new Escalade is hugely improved in the looks department IMO... but I still despise it. Might have something to do with those annoying ads on the top of the index page  Roll Eyes

+1.  It looooooks stunning.

But
Like a tank, the Escalade is big on the outside, but not actually that big on the inside.

I sat in the new Escalade and found I couldn't comfortably fit in the 2nd row seats, let alone the third, or even the first without putting the seat all the way back.  What gives?

I still found GX470 the most comfortable vs Escalade, Navigator and QX56.
