2006 Hyundai Elantra

2006 Hyundai Elantra SEThough a new Elantra is due for the 2007 model year, the 2006 Elantra is still a "strong value for a basic, spacious and reliable small car," says Chris Chase "if you're willing to overlook the omission of side airbags and can get past the poor front seats and squishy ride," he says.      More...

Despite of its age, outgoing Elantra still has enough merits to hold on its own at the end of the lifecycle really spoken how good this car is.

What Hyundai and Kia should addressed in all of their product range is the standard active/passive safety features. Like in the Elantra, you can only get ABS with the sleek GT hatchback and SE/VE sedans. GL isn't even available with one. They should put ABS and all airabgs standard across the range while offering the same price advantage over Japanese competitors.

The 2007 model can't get here fast enough.  Drove one for a few hours (highway mostly) and the driving dynamics are rubbish but the interior is ok-ish.

$22,000 don't sound like a bargain to me, this is Corolla, Civic, Sentra territory.  The exterior is fine, actually looks better than the upcoming 07, the interior is ancient and the lowly Sentra beats it IMO.  My friend had one for a year and got rid of it, a GT hatchback and it had very poor cargo for 2 golfers bags and all.  I once rode with him, 11,000 and the rear rotors were warped and grinding, the marshmellow ride is ok if you do a lot of highway.

With the 07 coming soon, good deals are probably available to drop that $22K down in price.

Elantra at $20,000 isn't a good deal.

Picking up the base at $14,9 PLUS discount/incentive or VE and it's fine value.
