Test Drive:
2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged

2006 Range Rover Sport SuperchargedWhile it's called the Range Rover Sport, Land Rover's new model is built on the LR3 platform, Bob McHugh says, and has all the luxury features you'd expect, along with an optional 390 hp supercharged engine. But while it has all the off-road tools, it's really happier on pavement.     More...

As much as I want to avoid being a poseur, my bucks would go to this machine in the 100K SUV category.  It looks great, has all the right features, has got some grunt, and will still tackle the ski hill.   :D

I love the RR Sport....saw it at the car show and it was a very impressive looking vehicle.  The inside is nice....comfy and a bit stylish....but not overly done.  Still got some British bits/looks to it.

Why are people so concerned about what others think of what they drive? I never understood that. Drive what you want to drive...

The RR is one of my favourite SUV's out there. I saw one in black a couple weeks ago, and it sure did have road presence. That said, if I had 100 G's to spend on a vehicle, I can think of others higher on my wish list, so I doubt I would ever get to really drive this thing  :-\

Nice ride, much better than the Porsche Cayanne (sp?). IMHO!

If you've got the bucks and are looking for this class of vehicle the RR is
definately the cream of the crop...
I'd choose this one over the Mercedes G Wagen / ML, BMW X5,
Porsche Cayenne in a heartbeat!

If I had that sort of money, the RR is right up there.  Aside from the old G-wagon box....not much else has that 'look' and panache.  From a performance point of view, the hot pepper Cayenne Turbo is tough to match.  Porsche name and performance.  But for only $77K to start....the RR gives some serious bang for buck.  I want one....

With not much to do in the city, tt could just be my friends that enjoy parading around the city in their Range Rover that gives me such an opinion.

Was surprised how inexpensive the RR Sport can be. I thought they would all be north of $85Gs.

Although I have to admit the Ranges are very old world debonair in their image, with throne-like high seating and great looks, I don't think I'd want one.

Gotta be the G-Wagen AMG for my dough. Fasted brick out there. The new GL-Class is completely different, but I like it too.

Me too.  I always thought they were way out of my league...I'd never even bothered to check.  Now that I did, they're still too much.   :-\

I don't know where Bob tested it, but the photos are mine. The offroad ones are from a municipal forest in my town. As for the skull, it was one of many found on the route. Kind of creepy.
