You may discuss our cover story of the day in this thread....
Test Drive:
2006 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX Sedan

2006 Subaru Impreza WRX sedanWith a bigger motor this year, the 2006 Subaru WRX is "a much more liveable long-distance tourer," says Laurance Yap.  And new seats "coddle you during long highway stints," he says.  "Still, this is the WRX's second facelift, and the car is starting to show its age in some areas.."    More...

It may say boy racer, but at least it doesn't scream it like the STi with its over-the-top spoiler...  and at least it has some balls to make "boy racer" more than just an image.

WRX vs. MazdaSpeed6?  Tough one to call without driving both.  :D

The refreshioned looks look better to be everytime I see it. Looks damn good.

Apparently the huge spoiler on the STi is actually functional, but if you're really offended by it, there's always the option of ordering a Spec D  ;D ;)

Importing one from the UK would probably costs too many arms and many legs... :P

I have……and being a current owner of a WRX it will still be tough to decide. Both have opposing attributes that make them equally appealing. Remove handling from the formula and the MPS6is the obvious choice IMO.

The heat soak issues with the MPS6’s intercooler may prove to be a big negative is proven true in the summer to come.

I was thinking more like unbolt it and sell it to the kid down the street that drives a stock WRX with "STi stickers".  :D ;)

Okay, never seen one of those...  but there is an Integra GS running around with "DOHC VTEC" stickers.   :nono:  Unless the new owner had the good sense to remove them, that is.

I want I want I want.

The new WRX with the larger engine could make me forget about the STi.  It's sufficient and quick enough for me.  Where's my wife?  I need to talk.....

There's nothing with a car being raw ... it's what made WRX what it is today.  There should be more cars out there that focus on performance/handling without (or very little) compromises.  If you don't like the seats, the interior or the available space, you we're never meant to buy a WRX ... go see the wagons instead.  ;D

I like the STI (wing included) but it's a little too specialized for me.  :drive:

The WRX is a fun car to toss around in all weather conditions.

If we had winter here, I would be signing papers at the Subaru dealership now.

What year was the current body style introduced? IMO the car is getting dated regardless of how many eye lifts it gets.  Then again, Subaru fans don't care about having the prettiest faces.   :-*:o

IMO the new front end treatment is the best of the 3 that the WRX has worn. I like it - a lot. The new WRX with the new styling and the larger motor is a very attractive & fun machine. It has evolved over the years since 2002 into it's best iteration yet.

I agree on the current styling freshening, Wiffy’s Sport Wagon looks much better parked beside my aging 2002. The end is near.

I really like the new WRX, but I think they're overpriced (unlike the 2.5 Impreza, which I think is priced fairly).  It's time for a total redo, which I believe is coming out somewhere around 2008.

I've driven them both also and can say this:  the WRX from its sounds to its performance feels alive and exciting.  It is raw to be sure, but then, that's what I love so much about it.  Unless I needed to justify the car to my mother-in-law, I would choose the WRX I think based soley on driving enjoyment alone.  The MS6 is a fast machine, but it's too refined and is almost boring.

Saw a gun metal grey 06 WRX wagon. Makes me just want to trade in our Aero for that!!!
Like the Forester XT, the new WRX is underrated. Over at Nasioc, the car reaches the 1/4 in the 13s!
