"The 996 strikes a great balance between performance and the practicality and day-to-day driveability," he says. But even used 911s are valued between $40,000 and $150,000.      More...

The 997 front end is what the 996 SHOULD have looked like from the very beginning.  It's spectacular.  I'd still take a 996 but it's not my favorite 911.  I'll take a 993 or a 964 before the 996....but the 997 is still numero uno if I ever came into money.

My exact thoughts.  964 or 993 C4 first pick unless I've got the cash for a 997.  996 just never looked right.

Is it the fried-egg headlights that pissed people off?

Fifteen years from now my daughter will be through undergrad and I'll have completed my financial obligation.  I will then be shopping for a 13-15 year old 2006-2008 997 911.  They will be fully depreciated.  All faults will be well documented and cheap fixes common.  The "complicated" electronics will be "old school" and replacement modules and diagnostic gear will be cheap.

Hhhhhmmmm...

I'm pretty sure this car will always reign atop my 10 car garage list.  Not too shabby for a car I've never driven.
